Leigh Centurions' losing start to the Super League season stretched to eight games as Ryan Hall's treble helped Hull KR romp to victory.

Shrewd play by Jordan Abdull set up early tries for Kane Linnett and Hall.

And, although Ben Hellewell and Ryan Brierley crossed in reply, a Greg Minikin try and Linnett's second score helped earn Hull a 18-12 interval lead.

Rowan Milnes scored under the posts to extend the advantage and tries by Dean Hadley and two for Hall sealed the win.

Leigh battled impressively at Hull College Craven Park in the first half and drew level at 12-12, but they were second best after the break and did not add to their points tally, which now stands at just 100 points from eight matches.

Hull KR, who move up to sixth in the table, ran in four first half-tries with Abdull's creativity crucial. His clever pass allowed Linnett to touch down and a fine kick saw Hall pounce for his first effort.

But the half-back missed both kicks and was also off target with his boot when the hosts led 12-6 after Brad Takairangi sent Minikin over for their third try.

Brierly's converted score, after a neat Lewis Tierney break, then levelled matters, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.

Abdull's quality shone through again as he wriggled free to send over Linnett and then kicked through for Milnes to cross.

With Abdull's penalty game also now firing, a fourth win in five league matches was made even more emphatic as simple scores by Hadley and a Hall double brought the try tally to eight.

Hull KR boss Tony Smith: "The start was very good To let some of that advantage we got in the early stages of the match, scoring three tries then letting two in, sort of undid some of our good work.

"In the second half we had a lot better control and were a more fluid."

"Our skipper [Shaun Kenny-Dowall ] was great. He led the way and showed a lot of character. He took some of those tough carries.

"I will make special mention of Dean Hadley as well. He wore a mask that the physio made up. He's got a nasty facial wound. It was never in doubt that he would play. He puts the team and the club first. I thought he was terrific too."

Leigh coach John Duffy: "It was a bit scrappy for a start and then we got ourselves into it. We had a real good chat at half-time but penalties cost us.

"We've done it tough the last couple of days. There have been issues so it's not the best prep and a couple of senior boys were missing.

"I feel for the players, I've been there as a player. I feel for them, they're doing it really tough at the minute."
