Hull FC came from behind to seal a seventh Super League win of the season as they overcame Huddersfield Giants at the KCOM Stadium.

Olly Ashall-Bott sent the Giants in front, but they had Oliver Russell sent to the bin on the verge of the break for a high tackle on Connor Wynne.

Mahe Fonua and Jack Logan replied for the hosts after half-time before Wynne sent them ahead for the first time.

Marc Sneyd kicked a late drop-goal to cap off a fine comeback from the hosts.

The result means Hull are fifth in the Super League table while Huddersfield are 10th, having suffered their seventh defeat of the campaign so far.

Both sides came into the game weakened by call-ups to Friday's international fixture between England and the Combined Nations All-Stars.

The hosts brought in Logan, who had been on loan at Batley, in order to boost their options in their back-line but Brett Hodgson could only name an 18-man squad ahead of the game.

The Giants had been badly affected by Covid-19 in the weeks leading up to the fixture but coach Ian Watson had six players return.

There was a lengthy delay in the second half due to an injury to Giants full-back Darnell McIntosh, with the Airlie Birds later dominating the half.

Logan made an impact upon his return to Hull as his try helped them pull off an impressive turnaround, with Sneyd's drop-goal giving them an unassailable seven-point lead late on.

Hull FC boss Brett Hodgson told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I'd like to suggest that's a better win than last week. We had so much adversity going this week just like Huddersfield and other clubs have had.

"I thought we were pretty poor in the first half but the way we came back was outstanding and I'm really proud of the group.

"Our completions in the first half were only around 53% and we didn't put any pressure attacking their try-line. But to come away 17 points to 10, I'm extremely proud."

Huddersfield Giants head coach Ian Watson told BBC Radio Leeds:

"I thought in the first half we were really good. The effort was outstanding. If we can play with that effort with our full team, we won't be far off.

"That team has been thrown together over two days. They've had more or less two training sessions together.

"In training when you're not up against opposition or a defence, it's different. We lost shape but our attitude and effort was outstanding."
