Hull FC half-back Luke Gale will miss their next five games after being given an additional two-game ban following their defeat by St Helens.

The 31-year-old was sent off after catching Jonny Lomax with a high boot.

Gale was charged with a Grade C other contrary behaviour offence for lifting an injured player as well a Grade D charge for a "high studs" offence.

After taking the charges to appeal, an independent tribunal decided to impose a suspension totalling five games.

Gale, who joined the Black and Whites from Leeds Rhinos from this season, could have faced an additional five-game ban on top of the initial three games he was given on Monday.

An RFL statement said that prior to his appeal hearing: "with Match Review Panel approval, all parties agreed that there would be a single sanction covering both charges," heading to his cumulative five-game ban.

He will now miss Hull's matches against Salford, Castleford, Leeds, Huddersfield and Wigan and will be ineligible to play until April.

Meanwhile, on Monday Toulouse's Joseph Paolo and Huddersfield's Danny Levi were given two-match bans following the weekend's Super League action.

His Giants teammate Theo Fages has been given a one-game ban, as has Castleford's George Lawler.
