Kane Linnett scored 40 tries in 110 appearances for Hull KR

Hull KR second rower Kane Linnett has announced his retirement from rugby league following the end of the 2023 Super League season.

The 34-year-old joined in 2019, having played for Sydney Roosters and North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL.

Linnett played in three NRL Grand Finals, winning with the Cowboys in 2015, and helped Hull KR reach this season's Challenge Cup final.

"I'm proud of how far Hull KR have progressed since I arrived," he said.

"I've given my all for the badge, supporters and my team-mates for the past five years and I feel like the time is right for me to finish up and chase a new adventure.

"I have so many great memories that will last a lifetime and I'm forever grateful for the opportunity that Hull KR have given me and my family."

A Scotland international, Linnett helped the Cowboys win the World Club Challenge in 2016 as they beat Leeds Rhinos 38-4.

During his time in the NRL, which is played across Australia and New Zealand, Linnett scored 57 tries in 187 appearances before moving to the northern hemisphere with the Robins, where he has linked up with Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Ryan Hall to transform the club's fortunes in recent years.

Linnett was named in the 2021 Super League Dream Team and made 110 appearances for the club, scoring 40 tries in addition to helping them to the Super League play-offs this term.
