Salford Red Devils have signed versatile forward Joe Shorrocks from Super League champions Wigan Warriors on a three-year deal from 2024 onwards.

The 23-year-old chose a career in rugby league over football and cricket and has four tries in 80 career games.

Shorrocks has played back-rower, hooker and even half-back in recent seasons, and was part of the Warriors' 2023 title-winning team with 18 appearances.

"It is a move that I think is best for me," Shorrocks said.

"Ever since I spoke to Paul [Rowley - head coach] and Ian [Blease - chief executive] about coming to play for Salford, it is something that has excited me.

"I spoke to a few of the lads that I know there already and they have had nothing but positive things to say about the club, so I'm really happy to be joining."

Head coach Rowley added: "I have enjoyed watching Joe's progress over the last couple of years and respected his work ethic, and ability.

"After speaking with Joe, it was clear that his character and ambition are first-class, and a perfect fit for our team."
