Whitehaven have confirmed that they can fulfil their Championship fixture against Dewsbury Rams on Sunday.

The troubled Cumbrian side faced a player revolt amid financial uncertainty at the club, with players initially refusing to take part in the final six games of the season.

Former St Helens and Wakefield prop Kyle Amor took over the head coach role on Monday after Jonty Gorley resigned following Sunday's win at Doncaster that kept Haven in the fight to avoid relegation.

Amor expressed concerns that the split between the club and his players was too wide to be closed, but he confirmed in an interview with club media, external that he had managed to pull together a squad to train on Thursday night.

They will travel to face bottom club Dewsbury, whose own relegation will be confirmed if they lose, even though some players are still absent.

'Baptism of fire'

"It's been a chaotic baptism of fire, a whirlwind week, but we've got there," said Amor.

"We've got a playing group, somehow we've managed to get them out there and had a brilliant training session.

"I have to pay credit to all the players, I didn't think we'd get here and I'm buzzing - not just to get here but the way the lads trained - it was upbeat, it was energetic and fun.

"What I've got is what Jonty Gorley told me I had, a bunch committed to this club and to each other.

"We didn't get everyone down there that we would have liked to have done but managed to get through and show that true Cumbrian underdog mentality of getting out there.

"We understand the enormity of the situation we're in. We have the most difficult run-in in the Championship for those teams in and around where we are."
