England forward Elliott Whitehead will return to Super League in 2025 to rejoin former club Catalans Dragons.

Whitehead played for Catalans for two and a half years before leaving for Canberra Raiders in the NRL in 2015.

The 34-year-old is in his ninth season with the Raiders, where he is captain, but he will move to the south of France on a one-year contract.

The second-rower has been capped 27 times by England, and was a member of the World Cup squad in 2017 and 2022.

Whitehead began his career with hometown club Bradford Bulls, where he made his debut as a 17-year-old.

He played more than 100 times for Bradford before his switch to Catalans, where he made 68 appearances and scored 32 tries.

Now he will return to Perpignan for the 2025 campaign once his commitments with Canberra have finished this season.

He ended his international career last November against Tonga, having first been capped by England in 2014.

"Having seen how Catalans have grown since I left I can’t wait to come back and hopefully help bring some more success to the south of France," Whitehead told the club's website, external.
