Hull KR have signed former Leigh Leopards forward Tom Amone on a three-year deal, however, he will spend the rest of the current season with Castleford Tigers on a short-term contract.

The 28-year-old, who joins from NRL side Canterbury Bulldogs, will link up with the Robins from the beginning of the 2026 season until 2028.

But with the forward unable to fit into the Robins squad this season due to overseas player quotas, he will join up with the Tigers ahead of a permanent move next term.

"I'm really excited to be joining Hull KR from 2026," Amone told the club website.

"Speaking with Willie [Peters] and hearing his plans for the club made the decision an easy one – it's something I definitely want to be a part of."

The Australian forward has Super League experience having played a key role in Leigh's 2023 and 2024 play-off campaigns, and he started in the 2023 Challenge Cup final as the Leopards beat Hull KR at Wembley.

Hull KR chief executive Paul Lakin said: "It was very important to us to get Tom and his young family settled in the Hull area when they arrive in England.

"Despite not having the cap space available for Tom to play for us in 2025, we are pleased that he will play for Castleford for the remainder of this season, ensuring the move to Hull can happen immediately."

Cas have also signed France international forwards Hugo Salabio and Jordan Dezaria on loan deals.

24-year-old Salabio, who joins with a two-week recall option, made his Super League Debut for Catalans Dragons in 2022, arrives from Hull FC, while 28-year-old Dezaria joins from Catalans.

Dezaria has made 75 appearances in Super League for the Dragons across two spells and goes into McGuire's 21-man squad for their Easter trip to Wakefield along with Salabio.

Last week's defeat by Leigh Leopards left the Tigers with just two points from their opening seven Super League outings.
