St Helens have signed Salford Red Devils forward Shane Wright on loan for the rest of the season as Konrad Hurrell's career with the club comes to an end.

Hurrell, 34, has been deregistered by Saints after a season which he has spent on loan at Halifax Panthers, Swinton Lions and Bradford Bulls.

He will leave the club at the end of the season as expected but his early deregistering allows Wright to join the squad.

The 29-year-old Australian has been at Salford since joining them from North Queensland Cowboys in 2022, and played in all but two matches last season as Salford finished fourth in Super League.

Tonga international Hurrell has won the League Leaders' Shield, Super League and World Club Challenge with Saints and the club website says, external "supporters will get their chance to thank Konrad at our final home match of the season."
