Ireland gained revenge on Wales after cruising to a dominant 36-12 victory in West Yorkshire.

Wales head coach Paul Berry made few changes to his side that beat Ireland last week in Neath.

Sam Bowring was promoted to the starting line-up to replace the retired Rhodri Lloyd and Newcastle Thunder's George Birch earned his first senior Wales cap.

The Irish made a number of positional changes and brought three players in - a move that paid off as they got off to a flyer. Aidan McGowan scored in the fourth minute but could not convert his own try before Connor Carr scored in the 13th, again McGowan missing the conversion.

Brendan O'Hagan broke through the Welsh defensive line with ease in the 19th minute, this time McGowan converting, to make it 14-0.

Ireland then scored three more tries before Wales could get on the scoreboard just before half-time. Owen Restall intercepted a pass and ran 60 metres to score, with Matty Fozard converting to bring the score back to 26-6 at the break.

Wales started poorly in the second half, conceding a penalty after being offside from a kick. From the resulting set, Brendan O'Hagan twisted his way over to score under the posts and McGowan converted.

Wales still looked to get something out of the game as Connor Davies set up Denive Balmforth for his first international try but Ireland crushed any hopes when Lewis Wing scored to ensure a convincing victory.
