Cornish Pirates hooker Rob Elloway has been ruled out of action for ten weeks after undergoing an operation to correct a neck injury.
The 28-year-old Germany international, who has played 13 times this season, has yet to feature in 2012.
"We've had an horrific season with injuries," Pirates High Performance Manager Chris Stirling reflected to BBC Radio Cornwall.
"It just continues to roll on but that's what happens," he added.
With centre Drew Locke sidelined and fly-half Johnny Bentley also missing, the depth of the Pirates squad is being tested.
But Stirling does not think they need to bring in more players.
"Up front we're all right at the moment. We have until January 27 to see whether we need to take action, but at the moment I think we're ok."
