Wales lost 17-7 in their IRB Wellington Sevens, external bowl semi-final to eventual winners Kenya in New Zealand.

Matthew Pewtner scored Wales' only try, converted by Alex Walker, in the last four clash at the Westpac Stadium.

Sidney Ashioya and Leon Adongo scored against Wales, who had beaten United States in the quarter-final, before Kenya beat Australia in the final.

Wales had earlier drawn with Tonga, beaten Argentina and lost to overall runners-up Fiji in qualifying Pool C.

New Zealand beat Fiji 24-7 in the Wellington Sevens Cup final as Frank Halai scored twice for the hosts.
