Cornish Pirates have bolstered their second row with the signing of London Irish's James Sandford and Will Graulich from Gloucester.

Sandford, 24, joined Irish from Rotherham two years ago, external having played for Ireland's Under 20's side.

He appeared in six Premiership games in 2011-12, but has not featured in the league this season.

Graulich, 20, has played LV=Cup rugby for Gloucester and also had time with Hartpury College in National Two South.

"James is known to us having played against us for Rotherham back in 2010," said head coach Ian Davies.

"I actually recommended him to Toby Booth as a player to keep an eye on, so it is great he will now be pulling on a Pirates shirt.

"Will comes highly recommended by Alex Brown at Gloucester Rugby and obviously Alex knows a thing or two about playing in the second row.

"Will is a young player with enormous potential and it is our job to make sure he is given the platform to fully reach it."
