Pirates coach Davies warns of complacency

Cornish Pirates coach Ian Davies has warned his side not to get complacent ahead of their match with Leeds Carnegie on Friday.

The Pirates are in buoyant mood ahead of the encounter after last weekend's impressive 23-21 win over Bristol.

"It was a big win on the weekend but we have got to make sure we are not complacent, Leeds are a good side," Davies told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Leeds gave us a spanking last year so we have got to give them respect."

Davies praised his side's togetherness after the win against Bristol, one of the title favourites.

"It was really good, the only people that thought we could win were the players and staff, the boys performed fantastically well," added Davies.

"The togetherness was motivation, the guys played for each other and playing a team that everyone think will be champions.

"We're going to have some defeats but, as long as we use those defeats as learning tools, then they can be positive."

Pirates will be without Matt Evans who has a hamstring injury, meaning Kieron Goss is set to make his Championship debut.
