Launceston's Tom Rawlings aims to keep up 'fortress' home form

Launceston's Tom Rawlings has urged his side to keep Polson Bridge as a "fortress" after finally winning their first away game of the season.

The Cornish All Blacks beat Southend 17-14 on the road last weekend after five straight away defeats.

In contrast, Launceston's home form has been excellent with four straight wins.

"We've made our home ground a fortress and it's our duty to uphold that," the assistant coach and flanker told BBC Radio Cornwall.

Launceston face Chinnor at home on Saturday and Rawlings is hoping that the Polson Bridge factor will come into play.

"They put a lot of points on Cambridge last weekend so they'll be confident and in good form, but they have to come to our place.

"We looked at our league position after our win - and one win can bump you up a considerable amount of places and one loss can take you right down to the bottom half," he said.

"We are very keen to start climbing, and more importantly we want to string together some consistent performances each week.

"The teams that can be consistent will pull away at the top. It's a very tight league and taking on the top of the table and bottom of the table are just as hard games."
