Worcester 23-7 Moseley: Dean Ryan's changed side win derby

Dean Ryan's much-changed Worcester claimed their first Championship win as they proved too strong for Midlands neighbours Moseley at Sixways.

Among six changes to the team narrowly beaten at Bristol last weekend, 21-year-old Christian Scotland-Williamson made his first Warriors league start.

And fellow academy players Mike Daniels and Tiff Eden came off the bench.

Scrum-half Charlie Mulchrone scored two tries on his debut, while Ravai Fatiaki also crossed in a 23-7 victory.

But Ryan insists that the key to this season in the Championship, following relegation from the Premiership in May, is to keep winning, while also helping their talented youngsters progress.

"We have to work out a way of getting through it intact," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester,

"I don't want to be coming to the tail end of this Championship with guys who haven't experienced it and, either through choice or through injury, we are forced into that situation. We have to make sure we keep winning games and keep developing five or six players every week.

"To start Christian was a big call. The question was do we pick the biggest and most experienced team? Or do we push those guys out who haven't played much and say now is the time for them to start learning in a real environment? So I'm really pleased that we were able to do that and come out with a win."

Worcester led at the break thanks to two penalties from Ignacio Mieires, followed by the first of Mulchrone's two tries either side of the break as he dummied his way over from close range.

Mulchrone added another early in the second half, Mieires adding the extras, before a third try, from centre Fatiaki, secured victory.

But Moseley had the final word, scoring 10 minutes from time when replacement Scott Tolmie forced his way over, Caolan Ryan adding the conversion.
