Scarlets set to sign Australian Under-20 flanker Jack Payne

Jack Payne scored a try for Australia Under-20s at this year's Junior Rugby World Cup.

Scarlets are hoping to sign Welsh-qualified blindside flanker Jack Payne from Australian side Queensland Reds.

Payne, 20, has arrived in Wales, but the move cannot be officially confirmed until passport issues have been resolved.

The 6ft 5in and 18st 3lb back row, who can also play lock, featured for Australia Under-20s at the 2014 Junior Rugby World Cup.

Payne is understood to qualify for Wales through his father.

Scarlets had no official comment to make when asked by BBC Wales Sport.
