Pro12: Flanker Sam Lewis released by Ospreys
- Published
Flanker Sam Lewis has left the Ospreys after the region accepted his request to have his contract terminated.
Lewis, 24, made his Ospreys in 2011 and appeared 65 times for the region.
The last of his 13 appearances this season came in the defeat against Edinburgh on 13 February.
"The decision was made following much deliberation and after receiving a formal request from the player to be allowed to take up an alternative offer of employment," Ospreys said.
"It was felt that, in this instance, holding the player to the explicit terms of his contract had the potential to prove disruptive to the environment at a crucial time of the season, hence the decision was made in the best interests of the organisation."
