London Irish: Grant Doorey and Clark Laidlaw named as coaches

Premiership side London Irish have added to their staff for next season with the appointments of assistant coaches Grant Doorey and Clark Laidlaw.

Doorey will be defensive coach, while Laidlaw will coach the backs.

Both men will work under incoming head coach Tom Coventry.

Operations director Bob Casey told the club website:, external "Grant and Clark are both great characters and talented, ambitious coaches who will fit well into the environment at Hazelwood."

Doorey is currently assistant coach with Auckland Blues in New Zealand and has previously worked with Italy, Japan and the Barbarians.

Laidlaw, the son of ex-Scotland scrum-half Roy, currently works for Wellington Hurricanes, who are top of New Zealand's domestic league.

"I am delighted to have secured the coaching services of two talented coaches. Both men have displayed the ability to work to a very high standard in a wide range of rugby environments," said Coventry.
