Wing Craig Gilroy signs a two-year contract extension at Ulster

Ireland wing Craig Gilroy has signed a two-year contract extension at Ulster.

The 24-year-old, who has scored 35 tries in 110 appearances for Ulster, will remain at Kingspan Stadium until the summer of 2018 at least.

Gilroy has been a fans' favourite since making his debut in November 2010 and said he is "delighted" to be staying.

"I still have huge aspirations with Ulster and Ireland so it's great to be continuing here with my home province," he said.

Gilroy scored eight tries in his first season and his fine provincial form was rewarded with a call up to the Ireland squad in November 2012.

After scoring three tries in a non-cap fixture against Fiji, he made a try-scoring full international debut the following week versus Argentina and he has since amassed six caps and scored two tries.

At the age of 23, he became the youngest player to win 100 caps for Ulster and went on to pick up the Rugby Writers' Player of the Year and Player of the Season awards last season.

"I love playing for Ulster, particularly at Kingspan Stadium, where we receive fantastic support," Gilroy stated.

"It's a great place to play and it's a great place to score tries. The squad that we have, and that we are continuing to develop, looks really good and I think we're close to winning some silverware."
