Wales wing Eli Walker has signed a contract extension that keeps him at Ospreys until the end of the 2016-17 season.

Walker, 23, made his Ospreys debut as an 18-year-old and has scored 17 tries in 59 appearances.

Hamstring injuries have, however, dogged Walker's progress and he has taken up yoga in an attempt to prevent further problems.

Ospreys host Cardiff Blues in the Pro12 on Saturday and Walker could face them.

"This is the place I've always wanted to be, it's where I played my rugby as a youngster and where I see my future" said Walker.

"It's been a bit of a rollercoaster for me these last few months, but I'm back playing for the Ospreys and really looking forward to making an impact over the remainder of this season and next year as well now."

Walker's injury problems meant a Wales cap eluded him until August when he played against Ireland in a World Cup warm-up game.

Injury again forced him out of the initial Wales tournament squad and although he was called back in as injuries struck elsewhere he did not make an appearance.

Ospreys rugby general manager Andrew Millward said: "He had an interesting summer, in and out of the Welsh squad, but the international experience and his senior Wales debut are all pieces in the jigsaw that will help him become the player he has the potential to be."
