Rhodri Williams: Scarlets scrum-half has 'not burnt Wales bridges'

Bristol-bound Scarlets scrum-half Rhodri Williams says he has not "burnt bridges" with Wales and hopes to resume his international career in the future.

Williams, 22, will join Bristol in the summer, having signed a two-year deal with the English Championship side.

"It was a difficult decision to leave Scarlets," he told BBC Wales Sport.

"The English game is very physical, so it will only help me. I looked at the scrum-halves who are at Bristol and I can hopefully get lots of game time."

Williams has made 79 appearances for Scarlets but is behind Wales squad members Gareth Davies and Aled Davies in the region's pecking order for his position.

Among the Welsh players at Bristol is former Wales and Scarlets scrum-half, Dwayne Peel and Williams hopes he can follow in his footsteps.

"With Dwayne there, I can learn off him and he can help develop my career," Williams added.

Since making his Wales debut against Tonga in 2013, Williams has won three caps and does not want his international career to end.

"I've not burnt any bridges," he continued. "I will hopefully develop my career in England and then, looking at the future, I would like to move back to Wales.

"I have not closed any doors. You can not push for an international career unless you are playing and getting game time.

"I would like to go away and play a lot and then look to come back and push for a Wales place."
