Six Nations 2016: Wales 'have to raise the bar' - Gareth Edwards

Wales rugby great Gareth Edwards says the national side must raise the bar when they play Scotland in the Six Nations on Saturday.

Warren Gatland's side drew 16-16 against Ireland in their opening game, having trailed 13-0 at one stage.

Former scrum-half Edwards, who won 53 caps, says he was disappointed with Wales' style of play in Dublin.

"Out in Dublin it is never easy but the game left a lot to be desired," he said.

"We've always, predominantly after a World Cup, enjoyed a surge in a different style.

"We thought we might see a little bit of the adventure that Japan showed against South Africa and maybe the way Argentina played.

"We'll have to raise the bar somewhat but Wales have got the personnel to do so."

The number 10 question

Fly-half Dan Biggar is a doubt for Saturday's game against Scotland in Cardiff after limping off with an ankle injury against Ireland.

Former Wales captain Gwyn Jones does not think Biggar will be fit to face Scotland.

Rhys Priestland replaced Biggar in Dublin and Jones says the Bath fly-half can improve Wales' attack if he is selected.

"You always worry with Rhys' personal confidence and sometimes he can look a bit shaky," Jones said.

"But he played well. It was an open game, which suits him and he gets the backline moving better than Biggar in many ways and he kicked well from the floor.

"I think he can look forward with confidence with him improving in the next game and playing with more authority again."
