Siam Cup 2016: Guernsey host Jersey in May for annual Channel Island rugby game
- Published
Guernsey will host this year's Siam Cup against Channel Island rivals Jersey at Footes Lane on Saturday, 7 May.
Jersey, who are fifth in the Championship, have not lost the annual match since 2008 and eased to a 48-3 victory at St Peter last year.
As a result, Jersey have agreed to only select players who have been with the club for at least three seasons.
"We hope the eligibility rules will lead to a really good game," Jersey chairman Bill Dempsey said.
"We appreciate the recent challenges regarding the competitiveness of the Siam Cup, with a three-division gap in the levels at which both clubs play their league rugby."
The match will kick off at 14.30, allowing Jersey fans to make a day trip by ferry.
Guernsey are sixth in National Three London, and will contest the Fallaize Cup for second teams, Nash Cup (veterans) and Ladies Siam with Jersey earlier in the day.
