Wales have called up Scarlets fly-half Rhys Patchell and Ospreys wing Keelan Giles to New Zealand as injury cover.

Wing George North suffered a hamstring injury and full-back Gareth Anscombe had a knock to the hip in the 39-21 defeat by New Zealand in Auckland.

Patchell, 23, has two Wales caps, while the 18-year-old Giles is part of Wales' U-20 Championship squad in Manchester.

Wales had already called up scrum-half Aled Davies and prop Aaron Jarvis for Lloyd Williams and Paul James.

Williams suffered an ankle injury in training and Ospreys prop James has failed to recover from a calf problem.

North will be assessed on Sunday, while coach Warren Gatland suggested Anscombe's injury would take "a day or two" to recover.

Giles was due to play for Wales U-20 against Georgia in Manchester on Saturday but was replaced by Newport Gwent Dragons' Jared Rosser following his call-up.

Wales' summer fixtures:

14 June: Chiefs (Hamilton)

18 June: New Zealand (Wellington)

25 June: New Zealand (Dunedin)
