Leigh Halfpenny scored one of Scarlets' eight tries on his debut as the title holders comfortably saw off South Africa's Pro14 new boys Southern Kings.
The Wales and British and Irish Lions full-back also kicked nine points.
Tries from Johnny McNicholl and Halfpenny saw Scarlets lead at the break, with Kings' Yaw Penxe replying.
Rhys Patchell, Jake Ball, Emyr Phillips, Hadleigh Parkes, Mcnicholl and Steff Evans added home tries amid 42 unanswered points after the break.
After home wing Evans thwarted opposite number Yaw Penxe at the corner, Scarlets showed the visitors how it should be done and in spectacular fashion.
Gareth Davies' searing break out of defence was carried on by Evans before Halfpenny's final pass allowed McNicholl to score with his body over the sideline in mid-air, but with the ball over the line under his left hand.
Kings' response was rapid in two ways. It came three minutes after Scarlets' opener and fly-half Coleman's cross kick gave Penxe the chance to show an electrifying turn of speed to gather and score.
Coleman converted only to see Halfpenny steal the first half limelight by finishing at the corner off Patchell's superbly-executed cut-out pass.
Visiting fly-half Coleman and Halfpenny exchanged penalties before wing Sithole powered through the new Scarlets full-back only for Parkes to deny him at the corner.
Having been Halfpenny's provider in the first half, Patchell profited from a well-worked line-out before McNicholl's offload gave him the chance to power over.
Halfpenny converted and was involved three times in the build-up to Ball's try, in which flanker James Davies also played a significant part.
Hooker Emyr Phillips benefited from the direct approach following a close-range line-out and Parkes crossed following another slick move.
McNicholl added his second at the end of a sweeping counter-attack and Evans ended the rout in style as he burst clear of the visitors' defence.
Patchell kicked four conversions for Scarlets after Halfpenny was replaced.
