Pro14: Glasgow Warriors 31-10 Ospreys

Alex Dunbar's brace of tries earned Glasgow Warriors a bonus-point Pro14 win over Ospreys at Scotstoun.

The centre touched down to open the scoring, Finn Russell converting and adding a penalty.

Dan Evans broke free to reply for the Ospreys, with the boot of Sam Davies drawing them level before half-time.

But opportunistic second-half scores from Leonardo Sarto and Adam Ashe put Glasgow in the driving seat, before Dunbar secured Warriors maximum points.

Glasgow have now won both of their opening Pro14 fixtures under new head coach Dave Rennie.

Warriors made a fast start and were almost rewarded when Ali Price looked to burrow over from close range but was held up.

Ospreys weathered the early storm and settled into the match. When they fell behind on 15 minutes it was a self-inflicted blow.

The visitors were working through the phases near halfway when a loose pass from fly-half Sam Davies was collected by Dunbar, who outstripped the cover defence to run it in from 40 metres.

Russell's conversion and subsequent penalty gave Warriors a healthy 10-point cushion, but again came a score against the run of play, this time for the Welsh side.

A couple of clever breaks took Ospreys deep into the Glasgow 22, and when full-back Evans arrived like a train onto the short ball there was no stopping him going under the posts.

The visitors were very much in the ascendency, but to Glasgow's credit they defended stoutly, with Zander Fagerson and debutant Callum Gibbins both reaching double figures for tackles made in the first half.

Sam Davies' penalty on the whistle ensured the teams went into the break locked at 10-10.

Rory Hughes' powerful running coming in off his wing was posing problems and he was agonisingly close to putting his side back in front, a cross-field kick slipping from his grasp as he prepared to dive over the line.

The momentum was back with Warriors, and when Russell's quick tap-penalty caught Ospreys' defence out before they could set, substitute Sarto crossed for the touchdown.

The extras from Russell made the gap seven, but the visitors came back strongly again, and only some desperate defending stopped Bradley Davies going over as he was held up over the line.

Just as they looked to be gaining the upper hand, Ospreys once again proceeded to shoot themselves in the foot. Another wild pass near half-way was intercepted by Ashe, and the big number eight swatted away the covering Sam Davies and galloped away to the line. Finally, at 24-10, the hosts had some breathing space.

Ospreys flanker Olly Cracknell left the field on a stretcher after a huge collision with Glasgow substitute Nick Grigg as the game slipped away from the Welsh side.

Bradley Davies was sin-binned after hauling down Tim Swinson at a line-out near the away side's line, and all that was left for Rennie's men to do was find a fourth try to secure a bonus point.

They did exactly that when man-of-the-match Dunbar blasted through the midfield to score, Russell converting.

Glasgow Warriors head coach Dave Rennie: "For all that we'd got wrong in the first half, it was 10-10 at half-time, and we just wanted to raise the tempo. We want to have a smarter attacking balance but we probably overdid it a bid first-half, and second-half we played with a better tempo.

"We're pleased to get five points out of today, but we know we can be a hell of a lot better, and from a coaching point of view, we can create a bit of edge in training, because we'll still be a bit grumpy about what we didn't execute well enough today."
