Women's Six Nations: England women 52-0 Wales women

Defending champions England made it two wins out of two in the 2018 Six Nations with an eight-try thumping of Wales.

The hosts scored four tries in the first half, Poppy Cleall, Abby Dow, Leanne Riley and Ellie Kildunne crossing as England led 26-0.

Katy Daley-Mclean converted three of those scores and added conversions when Marlie Packer and Rachael Burford crossed in the second half.

Cleall added a seventh before Kildunne also completed her double late on.

Blind-side flanker Cleall started the scoring, bundling over after England had kicked a penalty into the corner, and they doubled their advantage before the 20-minute mark as Danielle Waterman dummied inside to fix the defence before offering right wing Dow a clear run to the line.

The third try came when scrum-half Riley had a look down the blind-side, decided there was more joy to be gained going open and duly dived over from close range, with teenage centre Kildunne picking off a prop in midfield before racing clear to score the fourth try of the half.

Daley-Mclean converted three of the scores, hitting the post with the other effort, to give England a 26-0 lead at half-time, and a repeat of last year's 63-0 scoreline was on the cards.

Flanker Marlie Packer drove over for their fifth try after 47 minutes, but a greasy ball and inaccuracy in their game hampered England's efforts, with mistakes at the breakdown and handling errors halting their attacking momentum.

Their sixth try arrived soon after the hour mark, experienced centre Burford dotting down Daley-Mclean's cute kick under the sticks, before Cleall dived over unopposed for her second try.

The final word went to Kildunne, the 18-year-old scoring a marvellous solo try from inside her own half to give the match a spectacular finale.

Wales coach Rowland Phillips: "Last year after losing by 60 points we were blown off the park. This year we were well beaten, and there is a difference.

"It's definitely better but still not good enough. We can't handle the bulk and the power of England.

"The biggest thing we have to do is believe. When we believed in what we're doing, believed in the structure, believed in our own ability then we were managing. When we didn't it didn't go so well."
