Pro14: Glasgow Warriors 37-23 Cheetahs

Glasgow Warriors returned to winning ways in the Pro14 with a hard-fought bonus-point win against Cheetahs.

After Malcolm Jaer's early try for the South African side, Niko Matawalu and Ruaridh Jackson crossed for the Conference A leaders.

Siua Halanukonuka and George Horne got Warriors' third and fourth tries after the break.

Clayton Blommetjies then went over for Cheetahs before Henry Pyrgos grounded for Glasgow's clinching score.

Dave Rennie's side, who had drawn away to Dragons last weekend, move 17 points clear of Munster, who visit Cardiff Blues on Saturday.

It was from a turnover deep inside their own half that the visitors got their opening score with Jaer racing over and Niel Marais converting.

Horne this week extended his Warriors contract until 2019

Warriors responded with Matawalu's change of pace unsettling the Cheetahs backline as he weaved diagonally from left to right to touch down. Adam Hastings added the extras.

Jackson chased his own chip to put Glasgow in front for the first time. Hastings missed the conversion but later knocked over a penalty.

Marais' penalty brought Cheetahs to within five points at the break and another from the fly-half early in the second period reduced their deficit to two.

Halanukonuka forced his way over following a lineout drive but again Hastings was unsuccessful with the conversion and Marais' third penalty ensured Cheetahs stayed in touch.

But Sam Johnson's inventive run and offload released Horne through to secure the bonus point and this time Hastings converted.

Cheetahs did not lose heart, though, with Shaun Venter passing to Blommetjies for their second try and Marais converting.

Hastings established a seven-point lead with a penalty before Horne's replacement Pyrgos sped away off Nick Grigg's pass to touch down and Hastings added the final two points of the evening.
