Six Nations 2018: Wales' Wyn Jones ruled out of remaining games with injury

Wales prop Wyn Jones will miss his country's remaining Six Nations games because of a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old came off the bench to take over from fellow Scarlet Rob Evans in the win over Scotland as well as defeats to England and Ireland.

Wales have opted not to bring in a replacement for Jones.

Ospreys loose-head Nicky Smith is Wales' other option in the number one jersey as they prepare to face Italy in Cardiff on 11 March.

Wales' tournament concludes at the same venue against France six days later.

"It is disappointing for Wyn and tough on him," said forwards coach Robin McBryde.

"He has had a good season on the back of a good summer.

"We won't call up anyone as of yet. We have both Rob (Evans) and Nicky (Smith) and will see where we are at the end of the week."

McBryde has not ruled out a return for Wales' most capped played Gethin Jenkins, while fellow Cardiff Blues prop Rhys Gill could be another contender.

A younger option would be Corey Domachowski but the former Wales Under-20s prop was sent off playing for Pontypridd against Merthyr in the Welsh Premiership earlier this month.

"You are not going to rule someone (Jenkins) of that quality out who can perhaps come in and do a job," said McBryde.

"He is not out of the equation and he is still effective for the Blues. It all depends on getting the balance right and seeing where we are at.

"Having spoken to a couple of regional coaches, they were happy with how a couple of looseheads went last weekend."
