Scarlets back-rower Uzair Cassiem has been banned for two weeks for an incident during the 54-14 victory over Southern Kings on 29 September.

A disciplinary hearing found the South African guilty of an infringement of Law 9.12, having made contact with an opponent's eye area.

The action was judged reckless but not deliberate and the usual four-week ban the offence carries was halved.

Cassiem is free to play from midnight on Sunday, 14 October.

That means the 28-year-old will miss Saturday's Pro14 Welsh derby at home to Ospreys, plus Scarlets' opening Champions Cup game against Racing Metro 92 at Parc y Scarlets on 13 October.

The incident occurred in the 62nd minute of the Scarlets' win after Cassiem had come on as a replacement. He has the right to appeal the decision.
