Women's Six Nations: Wales battle to 3-3 draw against Italy

Wales and Italy battled to a tense, try-less Women's Six Nations draw in Lecce.

Robyn Wilkins' penalty broke the deadlock for the visitors after a first 30 minutes dominated by the defences.

Centre Michaela Sillari equalised on the hour with neither side having been able to capitalise on their chances.

Wales wing Jasmine Joyce was denied a stunning breakaway try late on by the forward pass from Elinor Snowsill that sent her away.

But the hosts were also to be denied as Sillari's added-time penalty drifted wide, much to the visitors' relief as they rose off the bottom of the table, above Scotland.

Italy take over at the top, but are likely to be overtaken by either England or France when they meet on Sunday.

Wales had hoped to bounce back with a win after suffering a 52-3 hammering in France in the first round, while the hosts had beaten Scotland 28-7 away.
