Wales are "confident" about fly-half Dan Biggar's prospects of being fit to face England on Saturday - despite bringing Sam Davies in as cover.
Biggar suffered a knee injury for Northampton on Saturday, leaving Jarrod Evans as Wales' only fit fly-half.
Dragons fly-half Davies has yet to be officially called up to the squad but has been in training camp this week.
"Initial signs are positive," said Wales' breakdown technical advisor Sam Warburton on Biggar's chances.
"He doesn't need a scan. It puts our team selection on hold for a while because we have to wait to see how he turns up tomorrow.
"He's going to train and do stuff with the physios. But everyday so far, the feedback from the physios has been good, he's had a really good response to the stages of physio.
"He's ticking all the boxes he needs to. He's on a good course so, hopefully, with no hiccups, we'll have some good news.
"There are no guarantees but we're confident at this stage."
For Dragons, they will have to prepare for their rearranged Pro14 match with Benetton on Friday without Davies, while wing Ashton Hewitt has also been training with Wales.
"We have always just taken the attitude we have to get more players into Wales so we are delighted," said Ryan.
"A couple of other guys like Ashton and Taine [Basham] have been there as well so they just have to keep plugging away.
"The more people in that Welsh squad is better news for the Dragons."
Wales have a fly-half injury crisis with Gareth Anscombe, Rhys Patchell and Owen Williams currently sidelined.
Davies won the most recent of his eight Test caps against Samoa in June 2017 but Ryan has backed his player to produce if thrown into the Twickenham cauldron on Saturday.
"You can't prepare for something you have not done a huge amount of," said Ryan.
"It needs context. His previous internationals would probably have been an opportunity to see where he is at.
"Twickenham in the Six Nations is slightly different. But he has run sides before and has won games for us.
"It will be a huge experience for him and I will only tell him to enjoy and learn from it and hopefully keep getting back in it."
Williams felt ready against France
Warburton also confirmed full-back Liam Williams had returned to full training ahead of Wales' trip to Twickenham.
Wales opted not to release Liam Williams to Scarlets this weekend ahead of the Six Nations match.
The 28-year-old is in contention to face England on 7 March despite not playing since October 2019 due to an ankle injury.
"If you ask him, he was ready to play against France," said Warburton.
"He's had a decent lay-off but it hasn't been long term.
"Some players will need a hit out or two before they feel like they can come back and play international rugby.
"I think Liam will be confident that he can play international rugby.
"This is the sort of cauldron he would love to be thrown into. It would be great to have some big game players back."
