Wales are waiting on the fitness of scrum-half Rhys Webb for Saturday's delayed 2020 Six Nations finale.

Webb suffered a knee injury in last weekend's 38-21 warm-up loss away to France.

Wales have called Lloyd Williams into the squad as cover, nearly four years after the Cardiff Blues nine won his last cap.

Scarlets prop Samson Lee is having head injury checks after being replaced in Paris.

But fly-half Dan Biggar and centre Nick Tompkins are back in training despite taking knocks, while back-rower Ross Moriarty is also in "light" training after an ankle injury - though he is not expected to be fit for consideration against Scotland.

Wales attack coach Stephen Jones was non-committal on the chances of Webb being available for the final Six Nations weekend at Parc y Scarlets, despite Williams being called up to compete with Gareth Davies and the uncapped Kieran Hardy.

"We're assessing him (Webb) on a daily basis, hopefully it's not too serious," Jones said.

"But we know Lloyd is an experienced scrum-half with a balanced game, a very smart rugby player so he can pick up our game plan very quickly."

Wales are due to name their side on Thursday.

Williams, 30, has not played for Wales since winning his 28th cap against Japan in November 2016.

"It's great for him," said Cardiff Blues coach John Mulvihill, despite Williams having to drop out of their squad for Monday's 38-27 Pro14 defeat in Munster.

"The thing with Lloyd is he is a real good competitor.

"He has worked for his desire to get back and play international rugby. He has put himself in that frame because he is a number nine in Welsh rugby who can control the game.

"He has an excellent kicking game and he will do well if he gets an opportunity against Scotland. He deserves it and will be right up for it."

Williams' Cardiff Blues team-mate and namesake Tomos had already been ruled out of Wales autumn campaign with a shoulder injury suffered in August.

The scrum-half was due to captain Cardiff Blues at Thomond Park on Monday evening and was told of his Wales call-up just a couple of hours before the team flew to Ireland on Sunday.

Lewis Jones stepped up from the bench to start, with Jamie Hill drafted in as a replacement at Thomond Park.

"We only got a call before our captain's run yesterday," said Mulvihill.

"Lloyd got the official call about three o'clock and we were in the air at five.

"We missed him in certain areas. I thought Lewis played really well and Jamie came on for his debut and he did pretty well."
