Six Nations 2021: Van der Merwe scores twice as Scotland run riot at Murrayfield

Scotland have belief they can end their 22-year wait for a Six Nations win in France on Friday, says head coach Gregor Townsend.

The Scots ran in eight tries in Saturday's 52-10 defeat of Italy and finish their campaign in Paris.

Premiership Rugby will release Scotland players for the rearranged match.

"We can give it our best shot," said Townsend after the win at Murrayfield, which followed home defeats by Wales and Ireland.

"We want to finish the championship with our best 80-minute performance and we believe if we can put that together we can win next week."

Scotland opened this year's championship with a first away win over England since 1983.

"The players were very motivated in Llanelli in our last Six Nations game from last year, and then went down at Twickenham to put records straight," said Townsend. "That will be motivation for us.

"[We will be] picking from a stronger squad next week because we have players back available and I don't think we have any injuries from today."
