Ospreys (9) 18

Pens: Myler 6

Munster (3) 10

Try: Casey Con: Crowley Pen: Crowley

Ospreys halted Munster's unbeaten start to the season with Stephen Myler kicking them to a rare victory over Irish opposition in Swansea.

The fly-half enjoyed a flawless night at the tee, kicking six penalties as Munster were made to pay for their indiscipline.

Munster scored the game's only try, as scrum-half Craig Casey finished off one of their typical driving mauls.

Ospreys had previously not beaten Munster in their last 11 meetings.

Victory was perhaps sweeter considering they were without their Wales internationals, while Munster were able to field British and Irish Lions Tadhg Beirne and Peter O'Mahony, with Conor Murray among the replacements.

They got off to a dream start, Myler starting as he finished out in Benetton with a coolly slotted penalty, but his effort was soon cancelled out by his opposite number Jack Crowley on his first start for the province.

Munster showed endeavour, turning down kickable penalties in favour of touch and were almost rewarded with the game's first try, but celebrations from their 14-man driving lineout were cut short when the TMO called play back for crossing.

Ospreys in contrast opted for the posts after a spell of forward pressure on the Munster try line, with Myler on target and then again from a long-range penalty to give them a six-point lead at half-time.

It was the same story after the break, Myler slotting over from long range as Munster were penalised at the scrum.

Munster once again kicked for touch when Ospreys were penalised and their second attempt at a 14-man driving lineout paid off, with scrum-half Casey wrestling the ball off the forwards to touch down.

Crowley added the extras from a tight angle.

It was to be Casey's final contribution of the evening, with Murray replacing him to add some tempo to the game.

Rallied by the crowd, Ospreys responded with a spell of pressure on the Munster try line, but they were once again repelled by a red wall and settled for a Myler penalty.

He was lining up the ball at the tee shortly after, with the same result as Ospreys took an eight-point lead with less than 10 minutes remaining.

Munster rallied and twice missed the opportunity for a losing bonus point as Ben Healy could not match Myler's accuracy in front of the posts.

Ospreys head coach Toby Booth told BBC Sport Wales: "I'm very proud. That performance probably represents the region that we come from and also the team that we are trying to create.

"Obviously the result gives us huge self belief. Munster, Leinster, Ulster and Connacht, the Irish provinces set the benchmark and we want to try and muscle into that party, as do all the other teams.

"Wins like that gives you a little self belief that you are on the right track."
