Former Wasps head coach Lee Blackett has joined Scarlets for the rest of the season following his departure from the Premiership club.

Blackett was one of 167 members of staff made redundant when Wasps went into administration last month.

Blackett becomes Scarlets' backs and skills coach as part of Dwayne Peel's coaching staff.

"When Dwayne reached out to me for a discussion about the Scarlets, I was delighted," said Blackett.

"Our rugby philosophies are well aligned and I am very excited to play a part in what Dwayne is developing at the Scarlets.

"It's also great to be joining a team which has such a unique place in its community and an amazing club history spanning 150 years."

Blackett fills the void left by Dai Flanagan, who joined Dragons in June 2022.

The 39-year-old has been at Wasps for seven years, first as assistant to Dai Young before stepping up to take the top job.

"I am really pleased to welcome Lee to the team," said Peel.

"He is a highly respected backs and attack coach who did a great job in a similar role with Wasps when he took over from Stephen Jones in 2015."
