Scarlets have signed ex-Wales Under-20s prop Joe Jones from Sale Sharks.

Mold-born tight-head Jones' previous clubs include Cardiff, RGC 1404, Perpignan, Doncaster Knights and Coventry.

Scarlets are struggling for props with Kemsley Mathias and Samson Lee injured and Sam Wainwright unavailable for personal reasons.

That has left them with only three fit senior props in Wyn Jones, Steffan Thomas and Harri O'Connor.

Jones played 11 matches for Sale last season but has yet to feature for the Sharks in this campaign.

The 28-year-old spent time in the Sharks academy as a youngster before joining Cardiff Blues in 2013.

After a short spell at Perpignan, in France, he rejoined Sharks in 2018 and after making 29 appearances in two years, he left again to join Doncaster Knights.

After a season at Doncaster, he made the switch to Coventry, then joined Sharks initially on loan during the 2021-22 season before his third spell with the club was made permanent.
