Eduan Swart: Scarlets sign hooker from South African side Pumas

Wales and British and Irish Lions hooker Ken Owens is on Scarlets' long-term injury list

Scarlets have signed hooker Eduan Swart from South African side Pumas.

The 23-year-old will provide much-needed depth with Ken Owens and Isaac Young sidelined through injury.

Swart linked up with the squad on Tuesday and has been signed until the end of the season with an option to extend his stay.

"With our current injuries we needed to bring in another option at hooker and Eduan is a player who has impressed us," Scarlets boss Dwayne Peel said.

Scarlets have registered Swart and prop Joe Jones for their European Challenge Cup campaign, which begins on Saturday away to French side Castres.
