Tom James: Northampton scrum-half banned for three weeks for striking with his head

Northampton Saints scrum-half Tom James has been banned for three weeks following an incident in their Champions Cup game against Toulon.
The 30-year-old was cited for striking Toulon number nine Ben White with his head in the 70th minute of the game.
The charge was upheld by an independent disciplinary panel and James will be out of action until 8 January.
The offence could have resulted in a six-week ban, but the panel ruled it was at the lower end of the scale.
Saints beat Toulon 22-19, thanks to a late Tom Lockett try, and head their group with two wins out of two.
They return to Premiership action on Saturday with an away game against Gloucester.
James joined the club from Doncaster Knights in 2020 and has made 12 appearances so far this season, seven of them starts.
