Gloucester have signed fly-half Charlie Atkinson from Premiership rivals Leicester Tigers with immediate effect on a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old had been with the Tigers since the demise of Wasps in 2022, where he had come through the academy system.

England under-20 cap Atkinson played 39 games for the defunct Wasps, and 23 for Tigers across all competitions.

"It's a great opportunity for me," Atkinson said.

"I've enjoyed my time in Leicester over the last year, but Kingsholm is a place I've always relished playing at because the fans make an incredible atmosphere, so it'll be nice having them on my side now."

Director of rugby George Skivington added: "He's a really talented young player and will add to the depth and quality we already have here at the club in the number 10 shirt."

Atkinson, who can also play full-back, will vie for the stand-off position with George Barton, Lloyd Evans and Adam Hastings.
