Edinburgh and Glasgow meet again on Saturday, with a record crowd for the fixture of over 33,000 cheering the rivals on at Murrayfield.

Glasgow are looking for a repeat of last season's back-to-back wins after last week's 22-10 home success.

Victory in the capital would return the Warriors to the top of the United Rugby Championship.

Edinburgh, seventh in the table, have it all to do, with the festive double-header deciding the 1872 Cup.

Last week's match at Scotstoun was marred by heavy rain. Edinburgh pushed Franco Smith's men by holding a lot of the possession in the first half.

However, Glasgow rallied after falling behind early in the second period, scoring two tries while Edinburgh captain Grant Gilchrist was in the sin-bin.

In a bruising contest, Edinburgh had 51% territory and Glasgow had 55% possession.

"We defended really well, we won the territory battle and put ourselves in good position at times on the field," reflected Edinburgh senior head coach Sean Everitt. "We've got to take the positives out of it and obviously for us the big work is on the consecutive penalties that we gave away."

The win extended Glasgow's league advantage over Edinburgh to eight points, with Warriors sitting three behind pace-setters Leinster.

With demand for tickets so high from both camps, Kyle Rowe, scorer of Glasgow's opening try last week, said: "I don't think it's going to feel like an away game."

His head coach Smith added: "We appreciate the endeavours of the fans to get to Murrayfield so much. To have them travel over there not just for us but also there will be a light shining on Scottish rugby.

"It's a very special derby that is world renowned and to have so many people coming is a compliment to the hosts and also Scottish rugby. To play at Murrayfield it gives so many people the opportunity to see the match live."

Needing to make up a 12-point deficit to take home the cup, Edinburgh are hoping for a lift from the bumper crowd.

"The fans will have a massive role to play," said Everitt. "We want to create a cauldron of noise for what is set to be a proper derby decider between two sides that know each other well."

Both teams make changes

Hamish Watson drops to the Edinburgh bench, with Luke Crosbie his replacement in the back row. Mark Bennett comes in at outside-centre, with Matt Currie switching inside as James Lang misses out with a shoulder injury.

Johnny Matthews, who scored last week, starts at hooker for Glasgow with George Turner fit enough for the replacements after taking a bang on the arm. Tom Gordon replaces the injured Sione Vailanu as Ally Miller shifts from blindside to number eight and Tom Jordan takes over from Ross Thompson at fly-half.

Discipline the key to success?

"It's a big contributor to wins v losses so it is something we talk about on a weekly basis," said Everitt. "No one goes out there to concede penalties on purpose, no one wants to be selfish on a rugby field but it's just the nature of the game.

"There are a lot of individual battles that take place. The players do take it personally, they are very proud of the club, they're proud of Edinburgh."

Smith is expecting a big reaction from the home side, adding: "As we see it this game is completely new and different, with different preparation. I'm sure that is Edinburgh's strategy as well, they would like to eliminate the negatives from last week."
