Zack Wimbush's late try saw Exeter come back to secure victory

Exeter boss Rob Baxter has hailed the resilience of his side after their 19-17 Champions Cup victory over Glasgow.

Exeter trailed until Zack Wimbush's late try and Henry Slade's conversion and survived after Glasgow had a last-second try disallowed.

The win ensured a last-16 place for Exeter after a third win in three European matches, leaving them a point off Pool Three leaders Northampton.

"The one thing I'll say for these lads is they are resilient," Baxter said

"It feels at the moment like it's going to take a really good team to really put us down, particularly here at Sandy Park.

"I'm delighted they've got the win, it keeps the season really exciting for us," he told BBc Radio Devon.

Baxter admitted that his side 'weren't quite right' as they just managed to hang on, having lost to Northampton in the Premiership last week to a try in the final minute.

"Most people watching is were probably quite stunned that we got very little phase play together, energy-wise we looked a little bit lacking," he said.

"We just didn't quite win any physical contest that we're used to winning. Set piece went OK, things went OK, Glasgow certainly haven't scored a lot of points have they?

"But we've come through and we've won so I'm not sure if that shows more qualities about us than anything else.

"I've said to the lads that I know they've come through a lot of big emotional games, but we've got to recharge our batteries, understand that, and get rewards for a big game next week as we still don't know whether that could decide our group."

Exeter's next game is away to French club Bayonne on Sunday.
