Scarlets have signed Australia A tight-head prop Archer Holz for 2024-25.

The 24-year-old has played for Brumbies, Waratahs and French Top 14 side La Rochelle.

After leaving the French club following his brief time there, Holz's hopes of making his mark on a return to Waratahs earlier this year were dashed by a shoulder injury.

"After having a taste of European rugby with La Rochelle, I think my game suits rugby in the northern hemisphere," said Holz, who will arrive at Parc y Scarlets in November.

“It has been a frustrating year, but I’m excited for what’s to come at Scarlets and can’t wait to get started and meet up with my team-mates."

Scarlets boss Dwayne Peel said: “Archer is a young prop who we’ve been keeping an eye on for a while. He has a strong set-piece game, a powerful scrummager who has been highly rated coming through the ranks in Australia."

Holz will join fellow new recruits Marnus van der Merwe, Alec Hepburn, Max Douglas, Ellis Mee, Blair Murray and Henry Thomas under Peel.

Scarlets go to Benetton in Treviso on Saturday, 21 September to open their United Rugby Championship campaign and host Welsh rivals Cardiff at Parc y Scarlets a week later.
