Training alone toughest task since Scarlets exit - Williams

Scott Williams admits training alone has been his toughest challenge since leaving Scarlets.

The centre, 33, departed Parc y Scarlets in the summer and remains unattached after being unable to find a new club.

And the 58-cap Wales international - who scored 26 tries for Scarlets - admits being away from a squad environment has proven difficult in recent months.

"It might sound weird but the toughest thing for me is just constantly training on my own, something I'm not used to," he told Scrum V.

"Especially the days where it's hammering down with rain and wind, sitting on the side of the field in the car thinking, 'No one's going to know that I've gone and done this session'.

"So I just have to drag myself out of it."

Williams's fellow centre Jonathan Davies was also among those to leave Scarlets following the 2023-24 season.

Davies played 209 times for the region across two spells in Llanelli, scoring a total of 55 tries.

The 36-year-old remains eager to extend his glittering rugby career, and Davies says he has no regrets following his Scarlets exit.

"I played rugby and I still want to play rugby because I love it. It was never for fame," he said.

"These fairy tale endings never happen, and no one deserves that either.

"It was always about the team for me, that was my ethos around it. I wanted to support the Scarlets however best I could in my last year.

"If that was me helping prepare the team for the weekend then I would do that.

"It's tough at times when you want to play. I was lucky I was able to do it for a number of years, so I'm not disgruntled or anything."
