Cornish Pirates are still awaiting confirmation on the severity of the knee injury suffered by captain John Stevens.

The 29-year-old forward was forced off during the first half of Pirates' bonus-point win away at Nottingham on the opening day of the season last week.

He has spent the last 11 years at Cornish Pirates and was named club captain in July 2022.

"We do anticipate that it's going to be pretty significant, but obviously we have to wait to see what the official line on that is medically," Pirates coach Joe Walsh told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"He is in really good spirits, we spoke to him over the last few days, he was in good form on the way back from Nottingham.

"We're just playing a waiting game to see, and whatever the outcome is of that we're going to do everything we can to support him and support his recovery and his integration back into the set-up."
