Mercer out for season in fresh Gloucester injury blow

Zach Mercer has made seven Premiership appearances this season

Gloucester have confirmed Zach Mercer has been ruled out for the rest of the season in their latest injury blow.

Both number eight Mercer and winger Ollie Thorley suffered serious knee injuries in November's win at Northampton Saints, which have put an end to their seasons.

Gloucester, who are sixth in the Premiership with 25 points from nine games, also said Afolabi Fasogbon picked up an ankle injury in last week's win over Harlequins and will also miss "several months".

But it's hoped the 20-year-old prop will return before the end of the season.

Gloucester face Sale Sharks on Saturday, 4 January.
