Exeter add hooker Bekir Fuente

Sonia Bekir Fuente has played rugby in Spain, Australia and England

Exeter have signed hooker Sofia Bekir Fuente for the 2025-26 Premiership Women's Rugby season.

The 24-year-old was born in Spain and also qualifies to play for England and Australia.

Having been a rower and water polo player, Bekir Fuente took up rugby four years ago and made her way into the Western Force squad from 2022 to 2024.

She has most recently been playing in Spain and has previously had time in England at North Bristol last year.

"We are really interested in the talent transfer between sports," Exeter assistant coach Steve Salvin told the club website.

"Not every female plays rugby at a young age, they do more so now, but where are these athletes who played hockey or netball or something else when they were younger and could pick up a rugby ball and give it a go?

"There are opportunities out there for these athletes and Sofia took hers four years ago.

"We are excited to see what she can do in the PWR."
