Some key players have not dealt with the power of the South Africans at all. Dan Edwards, Ellis Mee have crumbled.

I really struggle to see what Steve Tandy’s team talk will be at half-time to turn things around.

Well he's had a bright first half so far but there was a time when Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu was lining up for a Welsh college team.

As part of an exchange programme with his school in Cape Town, the Springboks fly-half spent a year at Llandovery College in Carmarthenshire.

Wales and Scarlets prop Harri O'Connor was part of that same college team in 2018-19.

"You don't normally get an exchange student player who is such a high calibre athlete," he recalled.

"Sacha rushed himself back from a broken bone and when he did play you could tell straight away he was a class above everyone else."

You can read more about how the school nestled in the west Wales countryside helped shape a growing superstar of the game.

Their aerial game was what started this game, and we expected the scrum to be dominant, and they did just that.

They spent so much time in Wales' half, and I think Rassie will be disappointed in not come away at half-time with more points on the board.

There are five Cardiff players in the Wales 23 and they will be pleased to hear how their team-mates got on without them before kick-off.

The Blue and Blacks continued their impressive start to the URC with a 29-14 win against Zebre in Parma.

Hooker Daf Hughes scored a hat-trick from driving line-outs in the first half and then flanker Taine Basham went over at the death to earn a bonus point.

Cardiff are top of the table, although they will be knocked down by either Munster or Stormers this evening.

Fair play to South Africa, everything has been perfect.

They make everything look really easy and Wales are struggling.

  6. Half-time: Wales 0-28 South Africapublished at 16:00 GMT

That's the end of the first half which has been frankly one-way traffic.

Wales have barely touched the ball and when they have, they have either kicked it away or missed the lineout.

South Africa in total control after four tries.

You can’t give someone that much of a run up.

Wales need to close that space down, today they haven’t and been punished.

No they can't, especially when Andre Esterhuizen is in the opposition team.

The 183kg centre smashes into the Welsh midfield, crashing through Joe Hawkins and Dan Edwards and it needs a third tackler to bring him down.

But scrum-half Morne van der Berg is on his heels to pick up and dive over for his fifth test try in only six appearances.

How quick can South Africa turn defence into attack.

Canan Moodie breaks a tackle to start another counter-attack that is finally halted - illegally - close to the Welsh posts.

Can Wales hold them out before half-time?

    Wales 0-21 South Africa

    Oh that was close.

Rio Dyer does so well to gather a lose ball before stepping past two tackles.

Dan Edwards is quick-thinking enough to spot the overlap on the far side and kicks across field.

Ellis Mee tries to keep the ball in play on the volley but goes into touch - with clear grass in front of him. He would have been clear then.

South Africa back on the attack and just marching their way up field.

It really has been one-way traffic this half.

Joe Hawkins and Rio Dyer combine to stop Damian Willemse in his tracks on the right and Wales win a penalty.

Have you seen Wilco Louw's legs?

They're humongous, they take up half the scrum's weight.

This isn't an over exaggeration, they're bigger than my wife.

    Wales 0-21 South Africa

Wales win another free kick at the scrum on the halfway line for a technical infringement and Dan Edwards pumps it up field.

First real chance for Wales to set up camp - but Dewi Lake overthrows the lineout ten yards out from the try line and huge groans all around the Principality Stadium. So disappointing.

Lake is a wonderful leader and effective ball-carrier but the lineout has been Wales' Achilles heel this month.

    Wiese try, Feinberg-Mngomezulu con

Huge push from the South Africa scrum and it looks like the number eight Jasper Wiese touched down between the posts.

Yes he did. For a moment it looked as though he may have lost control but it's given.

Wales - like so many others - struggling to match this Springbok scrum.

To be fair Ian, I think most teams are pretty much dwarfed by these South Africans!

However Wales do have a very young team today.

Siya Kolisi goes within inches of the try line before Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu's pass out wide to Ethan Hooker is ruled forward.

Wales escape for now but there's a penalty for Joe Hawkins offside and South Africa will undoubtedly pick the scrum.

    Wales 0-14 South Africa

Aaron Wainwright barely packs down before breaking from the back of the scrum.

Wales know that ball has to be in and out in a split-second if they are to negate that Springbok scrum power.

    Wales 0-14 South Africa

Wales defend the driving lineout superbly to snuff out the attack.

However the result of that is a scrum five metres from their own line.

Against this South African pack, I'm not sure that's a reward.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu gives another display of his skills, catching a pass one-handed before flinging a reverse pass out wide. He's buzzing today.

Action is brought back for another scrum penalty and the fly-half sends the Boks to within sniffing distance of the Wales try line. Ominous.
