Katie Archibald is "excited" and "nervous" about competing on Scottish soil for the first time since winning gold at Rio 2016.
Archibald, 22, features in two events at the Track Cycling World Cup series in Glasgow this weekend.
The Scot says since becoming Olympic champion she feels an added responsibility to set a good example.
"One gold medal and I have felt that flip of becoming a role model," she told BBC Scotland.
"If I turn up late for training or I make a mistake, in my head I'm going, 'you're meant to be an Olympic champion'.
"It's been bizarre that one event can make that shift. So I'm trying to do it justice. But it's tricky, it's pressure."
The Milngavie cyclist - part of Great Britain's victory in the team pursuit at the Rio Games - is among the biggest names who will be competing over the weekend at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
"I'm pretty excited," she said. "A bit nervous if I'm honest. A big home crowd but hopefully I can do it justice.
"We've got a fairly young team that's come to the Glasgow World Cup so it's kind of being touted as spotting the stars of the future, which is quite fun because I've seen them all training and I'm making my own predictions.
"I'm looking forward to watching as much as everyone else is."
Archibald followed up her Olympic success by claiming two titles at last month's European Track Championships in France.
"I surprised myself," she explained. "I didn't want to put a lot of pressure on the event.
"I know it was the European Championships and I knew I wanted to do well. I was aware of the break I'd had after the Olympics, but I'd been training hard and really wanted it."
Away from the track, Archibald is also focusing on her new road team for next year, WNT, but is also looking ahead to the future on the track.
"I want to be at Tokyo [for the 2020 Olympic Games] and the Commonwealth Games in 2018," she added.
"I'm now already thinking ahead. Rio went really well and I just want more."
